WHAT TO DO ON YOUR FIRST CLASS

  • Dress in clothes that are suitable for working outWe recommend sweats and a T-Shirt.  Note:  You’ll likely wear our dojo T-Shirt during class as a trial uniform.
  • Arrive 10 minutes before the start time of your first class so we can give you your Dojo T-shirt, white belt, and introduce you to your instructor.
  • No Shoes.  Please remember that shoes are not allowed on the mat, but you are welcome to walk along with the black mat in the back of the room if you need to use the restroom at any time even in shoes.
  • Respect.  Please show respect to all instructors and students at all times.  We start showing respect as soon as we walk into the dojo.  Please be quiet while entering and leaving the karate school.  Before and after you step onto the mat, please demonstrate your dedication to this respect by bowing towards the front of the room as is the custom in Japan.
  • Quiet Please.  Parents should also demonstrate respect by maintaining a quiet learning environment at the dojo. Please refrain from talking on the phone or having distracting conversations during class.  It is also good form to stand silently during the opening and closing ceremony of each class. We greatly appreciate your cooperation in supporting the proper etiquette of a Karate school.
